Saturday Music Club: some jazz vocalists (and organists, among others)

Jeanne Lee and Ran Blake (George Duvivier, bassist): "Evil Blues"

Angélique Kidjo, Lizz Wright, Simone, Dianne Reeves and the Nina Simone Band: "Four Women"

the full tribute concert video

Sheila Jordan: "Baltimore Oriole"

Judith Owen and Richard Thompson and Debra Dobkin: "Cry Me a River"

Framest: "Moanin'"

(talented Latvian kids who might still need to work on their English...)

Carmen McRae: "Round Midnight"

bonus instrumental:
Barbara Dennerlein and Rhoda Scott: "Nova"

A 2008 concert the organists did together. Part 2 (happier-looking drummer.)

Glad to read it! (Except not having heard, perhaps, Lee and Blake before?) There's more Lee and Blake, together and severally, on the blog...

I think I saw Sheila Jordan perform once but cannot remember where or when. I think I saw Richard Thompson is going to be out here.

Cool. Jordan has had a long career--and at 85 is still performing and teaching workshops!

I'd definitely try to catch Thompson if I was able...I wonder how many Philly shows I've been missing?

Hear Sheila Jordan and Steve Kuhn back in the 80s. She's a phenomenon. And Carmen is way too far under the radar these days.

Never got to hear Jordan nor Kuhn live (I'm not sure if Kuhn is still with us, am vaguely certain Jordan isn't, but wouldn't mind being incorrect at all). And more attention to McRae would reward many listeners, indeed.

Happily, I am incorrect on both counts...as of last report, Jordan and Kuhn are still with us, and Kuhn, at least, might still be performing.
