I was tempted to go with his late '60s album TOME VI, but he did consistently interesting work...

A nice idea for a theme and an excellent selection. I've also not listened to any of Gil Melle's recordings, so thanks for posting this one. George Russell is still fresh and amazing, and you can't go wrong with the Queen.

Thanks as well, Jim--NIGHT GALLERY, with Mellé, John Lewis and others scoring it, did nothing to not further my appreciation of certain musical forms when very young...and Russell hadn't done quite as much as thematically relevant as Mellé, Sun Ra or Return to Forever, but nearly so...I was surprised the Washington was as late a recording as it was.
