One reason I'm not too upset that the mild ones, at least, don't do anything for me for pain relief. When I was on LorTabs (opiate-acetaminophen) after my knee surgery last summer, I had vivid dreams. The trade-off was increased constipation...no fun.Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04546161337366365635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-57297353511920913452012-06-01T17:36:25.073-04:002012-06-01T17:36:25.073-04:00Yes...ibuprofen actually works for me just fine (e...Yes...ibuprofen actually works for me just fine (except it makes me sleepy...and perhaps it makes me write in a telegraphic style that's more confusing than usual!), while it was an opiate-acetaminophen combo that caused my curiously-altered dream sleep (and did little for the pain, atop that--they never have worked well for me, while iboprofen works even on my typical [sinus] headaches). Meanwhile, Imitrex can do this, as well: "Large doses of sumatriptan (200 mg/day) can cause sulfhemoglobinemia, a rare condition in which the blood changes from red to greenish-black, due to the integration of sulfur into the hemoglobin molecule." You coulda had ichor instead of blood! Sorry about the Fun you did have...and hope the migraines are under control.Todd Masonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01815516018079824802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-85688903679472693442012-06-01T16:45:48.972-04:002012-06-01T16:45:48.972-04:00I hope you're feeling better. Re your issues ...I hope you're feeling better. Re your issues with ibuprofin: I used to take imitrex for migraines and, although it worked wonderfully well on the migraines, I finally had to give it up because of the intensely vivid nightmares it produced. Vivid dreams were listed in the disclosure as a possible side-effect, but there are only so many horrific nightmares one can take. I prefer certain parts of my subconscious to remain compartmentalized.Debnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-43769684955440275162012-06-01T15:26:57.286-04:002012-06-01T15:26:57.286-04:00Thanks, George...I hope. I'm not sure I see the Burroughs "cut-up" method at work above, nor certainly Keeler-style rabbits bursting forth from inside bananas (not literally, mind you), but I didn't get a chance to finish any of these books sufficiently to make more than passing comments. Hope those comments were as worth reading as, and less confusing than, you indicate...and I hope to review them all more thoroughly in time to come...Todd Masonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01815516018079824802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-8421611433973904252012-06-01T15:04:49.297-04:002012-06-01T15:04:49.297-04:00Your review reminds of a Harry Stephen Keeler nove...Your review reminds of a Harry Stephen Keeler novel...or section of NAKED LUNCH.
