Thanks for the pointers...shall have to give them a "spin" soonly. Pehaps there will be another folk-rock SMC sooner rather than later...

I'm not sure she could get much knitting done, but there seems to be palpable tension in the band, so that might've been a way to cope. I always like Dyble, but I gather some of the other band members were less fond of her, at least as a bandmate. Rather the Brian Jones of the band in at least two senses, then (as also the most poly-instrumental), though far healthier (and not messed over in the accident that sundered her version of the band).Todd Masonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01815516018079824802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-81224361977929883282012-08-01T18:56:24.972-04:002012-08-01T18:56:24.972-04:00(that was me being "Anonymous" by mistak...(that was me being "Anonymous" by mistake previously)

...and here's Stan Getz doing Swedish folk jazz in 1951. Legend has it that pianist Bengt Hallberg (then 19 years old) was just fooling around with this tune in the studio during warmup when Getz just flipped and demanded that they record it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycw7CAzwSYAnders Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06164550847416446757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-33534593695537654942012-08-01T18:50:23.595-04:002012-08-01T18:50:23.595-04:00Then again, attempts to merge Swedish folk music t...Then again, attempts to merge Swedish folk music to more modern stuff had been done way earlier. Here's a sort of jazz version from 1964. And I say that as someone who likes Sandy Denny. Is it really true that Judy Dyble would be sitting down knitting on stage during Thompson's lengthy solo excursions?Anders Ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06164550847416446757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-39916726784290354462012-07-28T20:54:56.819-04:002012-07-28T20:54:56.819-04:00And a few bits of new and at least newer stuff...And a few bits of new and at least newer stuff...Todd Masonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01815516018079824802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-90491642821980590622012-07-28T20:51:19.995-04:002012-07-28T20:51:19.995-04:00Ah, memories.Ah, memories.Jerry Househttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09482856733981933159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8525415828746712027.post-85721001961469840302012-07-28T20:35:00.291-04:002012-07-28T20:35:00.291-04:00Thanks!
