At right, at top, the new cover, sans typeface, for
Kate Laity's fantasy novel
Pelzmantel, in its (I believe slightly revised, or perhaps just tweaked) new edition, forthcoming soon, and the cover, at left, for the currently (barely) in print
edition. Kate likes the new one a bit better, and I think you can see why.
Aw, Todd -- thanks so much! Yeah, side by side the difference is more than startling. Wow, what a change!
ReplyDeleteOh and yes, the original is out of print though there are still copies at Amazon (I think). The new version is slightly revised (things that always bugged me, things that Storm suggested which definitely improved some weak points), three short stories in a similar vein (one of which has never been published, one never collected) and an essay on medieval magic that I'm supposed to be finishing up now (eek!).
ReplyDeleteSo even people who bought the first small printing might enjoy the new edition :-} and um, I'll sign them again and oh, er -- draw a picture! (Stick figures are my forté!)
Much more to look at and wonder about.
ReplyDeleteMany readers judge a book by its cover. I really like the new version.
