I just received my copy of the actual book today, and Robinson/Running Press (or at least the latter!) did manage to correct that typo before printing the books...so, we can hope someone was kidding...
Not yet. I haven't had time to read any of them (well, a bit of the earliest arrivals this year)! Pesky work/life obligations, doncha know. And my copy of this year's BRIT MYST is still on its way...Running Press declined to publish a US edition this year, so I never stumbled across it as I usually do. Likewise, no US publisher is doing BEST BRIT SHORT STORIES.
Of course, unless I'd scored ARCs, it would've been difficult to read the most recent ones, the BEST AMERICANs and BEST NEW HORROR, just out as they are.
I used to buy many of these yearly volumes faithfully. Now, it's hit or miss depending on time and availability. I, too, would like to read your reaction to THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF BRITISH MYSTERIES.
And turns out I was wrong, based on somehow looking it up incorrectly...Running Press did publish a US edition of this year's Jakubowski BEST BRITISH MYSTERIES...and, in a larger sense, it's incorrect to include the Bussel/Bright antho, since BEST SEX WRITING is all nonfictional work, or hopes to be...though there's presumably at least some folklore in there somewhere, and the Jakubowski annual would be So Lonely otherwise (the other erotica annuals aren't "really" best-ofs so much as anthologies of new stories).
And it seems that Volume 11 of the Jakubowski is the (extraordinarily late! at least in the Running Press US edition) 2012 entry in that series (slightly less striking cover, but at least the cover model's face and head aren't missing)...and, after some delay, the Gorman/Greenberg has been promised in the next few days...
