Re: The George Shearing Quintet and Orchestra (arranged by Billy May): "Black Satin". Talk about guilty pleasures. I love this stuff, maybe it's May's arranging, though I couldn't listen to it hour after hour.
ReplyDeleteNot too far in appeal from, if a bit "smoother" than, Gerald Wilson, I'd say. Though my father has been a Shearing fan all-'round.
