ReplyDeleteJim--yeah, thanks...and again for noting the Connor side. Albright recoded a couple of albums with a Mancini orchestra as a result of PETER GUNN...don't know how many of Shorty Rogers's Giants played on those dates.
ReplyDeleteCharlie--she's an old favorite of mine, and a discussion of her career on today's NEVER NOT FUNNY had me looking at some clips, including this one.
That's far from the best by Chris Conner, I think. I wonder how well that album sold, in comparison to her earlier ones? For some reason I was under the impression that Albright was lip-syncing on the show and another singer did the actual singing. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. That clip made me want to watch the Gunn programs again.
ReplyDeleteI know you're not the biggest Ornette Coleman fan, Rick, but I do love what Connor does with the song version. Yeah, I double-checked before attributing the reading to Albright...apparently it was her...it is rather sad how little high-profile work most of the GUNN cast got later. I'm not sure you've met Shorty?
