Night Gallery was a disappointing television series, to say the least, even given the occasional excellences in individual episodes (they had the wit to adapt Fritz Leiber stories, but never very well; oddly, they did some of the best dramatization of Lovecraft we've seen). But in one regard, it was a pretty remarkable assembly, even for its time...check the soundtrack composers list from IMDb:

Like the Schrifin, never heard the Wolf Man soundtrack before. Thanks, as always for these posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you! THE NEW CONTINENT is probably my favorite Schifrin album, as well as my favorite Gillespie Orchestra album.
ReplyDeleteThis one was pretty easy to assemble, albeit the choosing for some composer/performers was more difficult than for others...
Universal was using some amazing people for its music scores then, no question - you know, even though it wasn't that great, you've made me want to go and watch some of them now! I only have season 1 though - Leiber was from later, right?
ReplyDeleteThe adaptation of "The Dead Man" by Leiber was actually in the first regular series episode, not quite the pilot since the tv movie (soundtrack by Billy Goldenberg) served as pilot. Though I believe NG began as part of the "wheel" of programming on NBC, FOUR IN ONE (similar to THE NBC MYSTERY MOVIE).
ReplyDelete"The Dead Man" was even weaker than their version of "The Girl with the Hungry Eyes"...
