Almost a peak year, perhaps the peak year, for horror annuals, even with Best British Horror skipping 2016 and 2017, to arrive again (rise from the dead) last year...and with the Jones and Australian annuals arriving some months late for their target year.

Clearly horror fiction is alive and well from a quick glance at these anthologies. I just finished reading over 1500 pages of John Pelan's THE CENTURY'S BEST HORROR STORIES so I'm a bit horrored out right now. But I will pick up a few of these anthologies in the months ahead. They tend to show up in LIBRARY BOOK SALES.
ReplyDeleteSometimes. I thought HARDCORE HORROR was e-book only, but they did offer a trade paperback. The Australian and UK volumes might require some mail-order as well...I've yet to actually hold the Australian annual, which is now gone...as is, after this year, BEST WEIRD, alas. Not yet sure if HARDCORE or BRITISH are going forward this year. As far as I know, the other established annuals, the Datlow, the Jones and the Guran are going forward.
