  2. I believe "A Morbid Taste for Bones" was originally intended as a stand-alone novel, but Ellis Peters found the character so appealing, she ended up writing 19 more. They have long been among my very favorite mysteries, and the PBS series starring Derek Jacoby as Cadfael is magnificent.
