"Sacar la Voz"
letra: Ana Tijoux /// musica: Andres Celis
featuring: Jorge Drexler
translation: Megan McDowell
------------------------------------------
Breathe in, raise your voice
Soar away like an eagle liberated and rejoice
Breathe in a future splendor
It makes more sense if we build it together.
Free yourself of all the shame,
Take hold of the reins
Don’t give in to your oppressor
Walk tall and without fear.
Breathe, and raise your voice
Oooohhhhhhhhh …….
Oooohhhhhhhhh .......
Empty are my pockets
chapped and rough my lips
My skin has scales
each time I look into the abyss.
Shoe soles are worn out,
and my hands are bound,
the entrance always with a sign
says the place is closed down.
A thorn embedded
the wound is infected, it’s all connected
an overflowing rage,
in the whole and the void.
stumbling step, on the edge, no accord
every time I lose the north
There’s a loss of support
Time that’ll pierce
the dagger is fierce
it kills me, the flame is keen, no relief
but I have my sanctuary
I raise my voice
I’m not alone
I have me

Free yourself of all the shame,
Take hold of the reins
Don’t give in to your oppressor
Walk tall and without fear.
Breathe, and raise your voice

Love is forgotten, in tatters, gone rotten and scattered
on the floor all the fragments
of the pieces that shattered
The crooked glance
the clenched fist
I have nothing, but nothing
adds up to this abyss
my jaw is set
the word is ready
every letter pointed
it’s at the crest of the wave
no pain and no glory
I’ll write this story
It’s not about falling
getting up is the victory
To come back
open the door
be resolved
be alert
Raise up the voice that was dead
and make an orchestra
Walk upright and without fear.
Breathe, and raise your voice
Free yourself of all the shame,
Take hold of the reins
Don’t give in to your oppressor
Walk tall and without fear.
Breathe, and raise your voice
hang the rhyme
from a rope
it swings in the breeze
though it doesn’t deserve it
every heartache
unleash the voice, every cough
think of raising your voice

Nie to see this back. Hope you're okay.

Having the rook replaced, its so damn noisy jazz nor classical didn't work, so I'm listening to the loudest rock I've got on the iPod, with over-ear headphones. Right now it's Beatles, previous song was ZZ Top... you get the idea. Only two more days...

Thanks, Rick...and good luck with the construction. Nearby Seattle's own the Sonics (Evan Lewis says Yes), Jimi Hendryx and Heart (and Nirvana) might do...Portland has Sleator-Kinney and no lack of other Riot Grrls and Womyn...

Okay, proofread, proofread, etc. That was NICE to see this back. And having the ROOF replaced.

I finally put on the noise canceling headphones and listened to the three Batman soundtracks.

Todd Mason said...

Which leads to the question, which three?

Todd Mason said...

And that fateful corner/band is actually Sleater-Kinney...

Rick Robinson said...

The three by Hans Zimmer:
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises
