Big River is poetry in a song. And one I never get tired of playing.

I'd agree. If there's anything unifying these aside from I Like Them and they are all within the arguable outlines of rock music is that none feature lyrics that don't show as much facility as the music paired with them.

And, at one metaphorical level or another, they're all about devastation or disaster...even if the earthquake of sex is a pretty attractive disaster for Joe Turner...
