April's Music: 1980s and a few callbacks: unforgotten by me, certainly

It's been a rough 48 hours. My friend Laura suggested I treat myself somehow. This music is by me a treat.

Takes this one a while to get to the music...

Scott Parker has the list of links at his blog...an even better set than usual. And it's usually good.

A fine treat indeed; sorry to hear things have been so tough. I've been buried in deadlines so I have been oblivious to the world (as my brother texting me at some ungodly hour of the morning to ask me whether I was watching [that event] found out). The Au Pairs! A memory flash -- and Armatrading, so very good. I was surprised when I finally got to see her how girlish she was in her movement, light and springy. Wonderful.

I wish my late-night phone call the other day could be shrugged off so easily. Indeed, a pretty haphazard assembly, many revolving around old favorites assembled and posted by the folks at http://grrlbandgeek.blogspot.com/...augmented by whom it struck me to look up and see what was online. URGH the film still awaits dvd, I gather...and Armatrading certainly hadn't lost her spirit by the time of those recordings (nor now, I hope).

Thanks, Anders. I imagine that's one of their most popular offers.
